Directions to set up your apa
email in outlook express or other email programs
Using Email Programs with Your
Mailboxes
Mailboxes on your account work
like regular email addresses on the Internet-- because
that's what they are. You can configure an email program
such as Outlook to check a mailbox's email account:
Name: Type the name, as you want it to appear next to
your email address.
Email address: Type the full
email address.
Incoming mail server: Choose
POP 3, then type pop.austinpolice.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:
Web hosting customers have two options to use for their
outgoing email server:
1.Your ISP or local network's outgoing mail server. (for
instance, check with your internet provider - time warner,
sbc, etc. - and use what they tell you for the smtp
or
smtpauth.earthlink.net
This server requires authentication, and uses port
587. (you have to change the port number yourself)
Connect to the server using your mailboxname@austinpolice.com
as the "username" and the password for that
mailbox. (for instance, val@austinpolice.com as the username,
then your password that hayley set up for your last email
Account name: Type the full
email address of the mailbox, for example, username@austinpolice.com.
Note: Some older email programs may require using a %
in place of the @ in your email address for this section.
Password: Type the email password
(this is case-sensitive).
Note: For specific email settings
tailored for your account, click Client Settings on the
left side of your Control Center.
possible
problem: If you have set up your account and
a box keeps popping up telling you that you have to sign
in again: make sure the username is your email address
(youremailname@austinpolice.com) instead of just your
name. For instance, instead of val, you should type in
val@austinpolice.com
